In-N-Out is Coming to Utah--in a big way

All right, it's true that In-N-Out is already in Utah, but it's in St. George, which always feels a little more like Arizona or Nevada to me than Utah. Now it's coming to northern Utah in a big way. Locations are approved an under construction in Draper, American Fork, and West Jordan, and plans are under way for Orem and Layton. The American Fork location has garnered interest because of Chadder's, an In-N-Out knock off. (It's like In-N-Out, but with fry sauce.) Will In-N-Out but Chadder's out of business? Or does have Chadder's have enough of a local following that it can stand up to the California chain? (By the way, Chadder's has just opened a new location in West Valley. Let the battle begin!) Now we can settle the debate about which is better by doing a side-by-side comparison (something that would have required an airplane before).

The Orem location is also interesting because In-N-Out will compete with two other out-of-town chains: EZ Take Out (another CA product) and Five Guys (which originated in Washington, D.C.). Anyone up for the local legends meets out-of-towner burger throwdown? We can try Chadder's, Parker's, Burger Supreme, Apollo Burgers, and Crown Burgers and compare these to In-N-Out, EZ Take Out, and Five Guys. (Then we can all check into the cardiac unit.)

Just called the In n Out hotline. I asked about all those locations (cause I'm pretty excited to have it up here!) So far only the Draper one is approved and should be in sometime in the fall.

The Draper opening should be ridiculous.

Gary,

Thanks for mentioning Chadders on your site! We thank you and everyone else for your support for Chadders!

We have indeed opened a new store in West Valley and we're in the process of opening a new Chadders store in Provo, right next to BYU!

We invite everyone to come try out Chadders and of course our Fry Sauce!

All the Best,
Chadders

Pathetic. Stop hovering over In-n-Out Burger threads.

5 guys is pretty horrible...not sure the big deal with that one...EZ Take Out is amazing and filled with food crack...Chadders is also very good...

BUT, NOTHING and i mean NOTHING tops In-N-Out...and the Orem Location (behind Jared's Jewlers next to the Orem Mall) is 1 block from my office...to quote my wife, "Oh Man, we are gonna be fat!"

Ok so I'm a bit late on this post but thought I'd let Laurel, and everyone else who might not know, that the one in West Jordan is almost complete! Matter of fact I found this blog and comment by trying to see if they had a date listed for when they will be open. It has to be REALLY soon now! Must have been aproved and they jumped right on top of it cause it's almost here!

IN-N-OUT is gross. I remember the first time I pulled up to one in Cali- I was so excited to try the infamous Double Double. What a disappointment! The only thing more disappointing than the over-hyped burger were the fries that literally taste like greasy styrafoam. Maybe once the IN-N-OUT finally opens and people eat their "food" again, all of the delusionaly nostalgic Californians will stop talking about it.

in-n-out is fast food.

5 guys is BLAND
5 guys is BORING
5 guys fries are weak!

In-N-Out...perfection...and i'm not a californian - grew up in Oregon and found In-N-Out bliss in Vegas...mmmmm

I just drove past In-N-Out here in Orem and it is full of people. It opens officially tomorrow, so i'm not sure if they are all setting up tents and sleeping bags or what...

How come JCW's always seems to be left out of these discussions? JCW's in American Fork and Lehi ranks right up there with Apollo and Crown burger, and imo, beats them out in many ways. They have some of the best gourmet style burgers in the county.

Hey, I'm with you Will. JCW's is the valley's best-kept burger secret.

Wow, Dr. Hatch! I had no idea you kept a food blog! Food blogging is my favorite activity (reading up on good eating spots and then eating there). We should have talked local food more! I am a burger aficionado and would love to see the outcome of this comparison. Another ditto for JCW, my personal favorite.

Has anyone tried Stumpy's yet on Provo center?? We did, pretty good. I liked it.

Can't forget to mention Dairy Keen in Heber (very good) and Hires Big H in multiple SLC locations (also very good). Both are local and staples.

Another local favorite is Training Table.

I say buy local and keep Utah dollars in state. Let California break off into the sea!!
